You will want to play this album loud. It sounds good, crisp and fresh. Tope and Epp both carry themselves well in the booth, with a confidence that can only have been found through years of rapping and development.
The lead single from the project, “Higher” found TxE linking with Phil The Agony and Illmaculate for some celebration raps, anointing themselves as voices to listen to and with just cause, all three of their verses still aren’t old on me after over a month of listening. This brand of braggadocios bars is present on more than a few songs but it’s rarely unjust.
“Around The World” finds the duo spitting to the ladies over an instrumental that could please Dam Funk, if not the Purple one himself. Tope and Epp trade off bars here, spitting game and showing off how they can seal the deal and seduce some ladies into following them.
Portland is anything but soft however, and that rough edge the city holds can’t be escaped. While this isn’t to say Tope and Epp are taking their turns at tired gangster cliches, they do want you to be aware that they are not some chumps. They take time to shed some light on their lives and what a day to day quest for peace and happiness is for them. Listen with them and give some consideration to your own. via www.membersonly206.com/txe-we-get-it-in-true/
